Sydney J. Gales
Sydney J. Gales is a Nashville-based stage manager and multidisciplinary theatre artist with over five years of experience in theatre, musicals, and opera. She thrives in the art of calling shows and creating a collaborative, supportive backstage environment where artists can do their best work.

Sydney’s approach to stage management centers on adaptability, clear communication, and fostering genuine connection. She believes a production succeeds when the team feels grounded and cared for, and she works intentionally to build that sense of community with both cast and crew. Whether navigating complex cue sequences or smoothing out backstage logistics, Sydney brings organization, calm, and warmth to every production.

Alongside her stage management work, Sydney is an accomplished costume designer and wardrobe manager. Her experience spans design, construction, and alterations, with standout costume design credits including The Addams Family, Catch Me If You Can, and Shrek. This hands-on creative background deepens her understanding of the artistic process and enhances her ability to anticipate and support the needs of every department.

Sydney’s technical range extends further: she has worked as a light electrician, sound designer, and wig designer. This multidisciplinary experience strengthens her holistic, practical perspective of the production pipeline — from early design conversations to final curtain.

She holds a B.A. in Dramatic Arts and a B.S. in Organizational Communication, along with certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED (Red Cross) and Best Practices for Consent-Based Work with Minors (Theatrical Intimacy Education). Her time as an Administrative Intern with Nashville Opera also shaped her growing interest in arts administration and informs the thoughtful, people-centered approach she brings into every rehearsal room.
